Grassroots Soccer In Kenya

In Kenya many aspiring soccer players go through a series of frustration, hardship, hurdles and uncertainty of their future in soccer. One of those challenges is the lack of necessary supporting infrastructure, skills, equipment and materials at the lowest levels known as grassroots.

Of late, I have been thinking about what we can do in supporting our soccer ecosystem at the earliest stage possible. Below are my best five as much as there is more to do;

  1.  Introduce a more professional scouting system.
  2.  Introduce a more professional soccer academy embedded with our school system.
  3.  Invest in professional infrastructure, materials and requirement.
  4.  Strategic partnership for resource mobilization
  5. More support in sports as serious career venture for the youth by enacting policies for private and government engagement. Think infrastructure, technical, material and finances.
Below are pictures as captured when I had the thought in my mind reflecting deeply when I used to play back in 1990 - 2010.
