Digital Journalism course offered by Reuters online.

LEARN TO LEARN #LearnToLearn #lifelonglearning #qualityeducation

Happy to have finished the Introduction to Digital Journalism course offered by Reuters online. We are in the best possible era, and I think that there is even more to come in the form of Massive Open Online Courses, or MOOCs, where students may access, follow, and exchange educational resources from the best educational institutions in the world.

The cost of internet is typically declining, and smart phones are becoming more widely available and inexpensive for everyone with excellent applications. In a setting where there are several distractions, particularly online, we need also pay attention to the process of self-paced learning.

Point Of View

It is easier to finish a course with regular classes with a teacher and other students than it is to do it alone (self paced learning), especially if the course is also free. In a self paced learning (SPL) self-discipline is a key value that is required, as well as a knowledge of your motivations for enrolling in the course (your "WHY").

 Skill UP Master Class

Under the Learn To Learn program that I started at Wilsen Initiative (Wi) and +throughMylens that targets you people, I want to share more about how to set S.M.A.R.T learning goals that can help the youth expand their knowledge base and subsequently open many opportunities for both learning and earning. I call this philosophy Self Made.

Learn To Learn 101

Life Series... Pray & Play +throughMylens #LearnToLearn

I occasionally get this remark or complement... "Wilson, you've been blessed with a variety of skill... "

Thank God for His many unrelenting blessings, but many young people are unaware that skill are acquired even after finishing school.

#SelfMade You can set your own learning schedule outside of school and improve in whatever area you choose, especially in this day of internet connectivity.

Here are 10 learning suggestions from my Learn To Learn (Learn2Learn) journal that are essential in today's inter-connected world where focus has become one of the golden values
  1. Plan ahead and follow a to-do list.
  2. Decide - It is impossible to learn everything at once.
  3. Concentrate / focus - pay attention to what you do. In this situation, pick a suitable setting.
  4.  Create something with the abilities and knowledge you have gained. Don't just learn.
  5. Join online and real communities of like-minded people and follow them.
  6. Read about current events, what's popular, and other topics.
  7. Teach - Share what you have learnt with a person or group of people.
  8.  Look for motivation.
  9. Assess your plan.
  10.  Honor minor victorie

Bridging The Knowledge Gap

#KnowledgeSharing #LearnToLearn #QualityEducationLifeLongLearning

 #YouthMentorship

DID YOU KNOW Your credentials (degree, diploma, awards, etc.) cannot be shared or transferred, and even better, when you pass away, they all become a part of the archives or wall hangings. You have the power to influence the future generation of leaders and readers by sharing your experiences, knowledge, and expertise in any sector, unless you decide against it. This will ensure that the knowledge will continue to be used long after you are gone.

To bridge the knowledge gap, especially among young people, I believe that everyone has something to offer, despite the fact that I am aware that for some of us, teaching is a profession, a way of life, a passion, etc.

As I always say, school will provide you the skills and knowledge, but your life experiences will help you act in a way that serves your goals.

 25 Inspirational Quotes For Teachers.

"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.– Benjamin Franklin

"Memories fade with time and lessons are forgotten, but experiences shape a human being and leave a lasting mark. Teachers have the privilege of guiding early experiences and discoveries.

The Wi - Philosophy LEARN TO LEARN

Work Place Series +throughMylens // Consult

Teaching and Facilitaton

On May 5, 2023, I received a nomination for Zydii's first Top 20 Africa Trainer Award. This acknowledgement caused me to take stock of my 20 years of experience teaching, especially to young people.

Thanks Zydii

Q& A

What makes you a special trainer or facilitator is a common question that comes up in many conversations.

A - I don't always have all the solutions, but more importantly, I lead the participants on a journey (process) that will help them not only find solutions now, but also develop their problem-solving skills for the future. #LearnToLearn Wilsen Initiative (Wi)

What matters most to me is how we get to the answer, taking into account all learning variables, different thinking, case studies, etc.

My goal is to create a culture of lifelong learners where participants and the trainer/facilitator work together to develop new skills that will help them address current and future societal problems.

This concept, which we embraced at Wilsen initiative (Wi) Skill Up Master workshops, is known as the Wi-experience and is founded on the principle Learn To Learn (L2).

10 training principles based on my 20 years of experience.

#GuideBook #Methodology

1. Must be fun.
2. Must be participatory.
3. Must have break out sessions.
4. Must encourage lifelong learning.
5. Must embrace diverse tools & materials to assist in the delivering of the lectures.
6. Must be educative and inspirational for all including the teacher.
7. Must be time conscious.
8. Must be relevant.
9. Must be of great quality.
10. Must be 70% practical and 30 % theory.

Makongo Computer College Mentorship - Pep Talk

I'm on a mission to learn from, engage with, and impart knowledge and experience, particularly to young people from underserved communities, in order to develop a new paradigm that will empower them to become lifelong learners.

On the afternoon of May 9, 2023, I had the pleasure of imparting some learning strategies to young people who had just completed their O-levels the previous year and are currently enrolled in computer courses at Makongo.

The day's main focus was communication and personal branding, which would help them overcome obstacles after completing their O'level studies and prepare them for the next stage of their lives, which may be in a college, university, or the workforce.

Last but not least, I want to applaud Makongo Computer College for the fantastic work they are doing to empower youngsters, especially those who are not in school.

2. Youth out of school
3. Youth in employment
4. Youth in Sports
5. Youth in the creative sector
6. Youth in / out of crime.
7. Youth in government
8. Youth in private sector.
9. Youth in politics

And so on.

Football is One of My Core DNA

 Kisengere Nyuma, Yaani TBT' #ThrowBackThursday

It as been six years since I created my www.facebook.com/MathareNorthSoccer page, where I share all the images, particularly those that feature football +throughMylens.

I appreciate sharing our grassroots football journey from the viewpoints of the teams and the players, which is one of the reasons I established +throughMylens.

The Genesis

There were no smartphones or digital cameras to record our stories more than 30 years ago when I was a little boy playing football in the Mathare slums.

I can't find any pictures of us playing football when I was a kid. During the Kodak camera era, we used to have a photo album full with images of our family taken on important occasions, such as Christmas, birthdays, funerals, and visits to the home of our "rich uncle," to mention a few.

I've looked through my document archive, but I can't seem to locate any of the pictures of me playing football when I was 10 to 35 years old. I just have a photo album from the Norway Cup experience.

If you have any pictures of me playing football at the grassroots, kindly tag me in them.

The New Era!

The new era of smartness is here with us don't be left behind. Thanks to smartphones, smart TVs, IOT, AI, etc. We can now use technology to capture and share our adventure in a number of digital formats across a wide range of online channels and platforms.

Quote - ∆ Photography

Anyway, here is one of my images that I was fortunate enough to discover and that makes me nostalgic.

#WordPower #WordsOfWisdom

I'd like to share with you the WhatApp message that my older sister sent me the other day.

Different moments from my football career are shown in the photo, including my son Adrian, my daughter Debrah, and some U10 players during the play safe Football Shoes drive, to which I contributed some pairs.

The campaign lasts the entire year, and you are encouraged to support the cause by donating any football equipment or resources that can assist grassroots football teams between the ages of U10 and U15 play honourably and injury-free.
