Back To School Skill Up Master Session Featuring Mathare Flames Sportive

Organised By Wilsen initiative (Wi) And +throughMylens // Consult.

As part of our effort to connect with youth in various spaces at the grassroots, especially during the school breaks, we organized a Skill up master session with Mathare Flames Sportive on 5th May 2023.

Youth from underserved communities love and play football the most, and as UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed clearly put it,

"Sport has the power to align our passion, energy and enthusiasm around a collective cause. And that is precisely when hope can be nurtured and trust can be regained. It is in our collective interest to harness the tremendous power of sport to help build a better and more sustainable future for all." - UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed

We need to develop several interventions that will help young people achieve their goals in sports, education, and talent development.

The following were the session's primary goals:

1. Talk about what makes a great football player.

2. Specify and talk about the team's road map for the following three years. establishing team S.M.A.R.T. goals.

3. Outlining a football career from amateur to professional levels.

4. The Football S Curve: Career Development - Life Cycle. Examine the theory as it was created by +throughMylens // Consult

5. An overview of Kenyan football - Business, education, and football

6. A football player's portfolio (CV) in the new media.

7. Personal branding versus team branding

The Gap

Many gifted young footballers in Kenya simply play in the hopes that one day things would change for the better and they will be in the spotlight while playing for their dream teams. Based on my personal experience, I can say that there is a tremendous need in the Kenyan football industry, especially when it comes to educating the future stars about topics other than the technical parts of the field.

Youth As a Resource

Since over 75% of Kenya's population is under the age of 30, it is critical to support their desire to continue learning throughout their lives by giving them the training, mentorship, and other forms of support they require. The youth are the foundation of our country and we should put their agenda on top of the table as a matter of priority in all sectors.

Call To Action

I'll sum it up in the three-word (slogan) phrase Do More, Be More, and Be Different.

Best wishes, Mathare Flames Sports I sincerely hope that all of your wishes come true.
