She Can (I'm a SHERO) @ Wilsen Initiative (Wi)

In 2022, we launched I'm a SHERO, She Can, a flagship programme under the Wilsen Initiative (Wi). The programme was established to train, mentor, and expose underserved girls and women to opportunities beyond their immediate communities, enabling them to unlock their full potential.

Like many community-driven initiatives, one of our greatest challenges has been the sustainable mobilization of resources. However, we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our founders, family, friends, and well-wishers, whose contributions have enabled us to navigate the idea stage and successfully implement our pilot phase.

The programme is conducted three times each year, primarily during the school holidays, with additional sessions organized during special holiday periods whenever resources allow.

I'm a SHERO is a platform that advocates for greater and more meaningful engagement of girls and women in sports. We use football—one of the most popular and accessible sports in underserved communities as an entry point to inspire, mentor, and empower young girls.

Our goal is to restore hope, confidence, and dignity among girls and women who play football by providing quality training, life skills education, and mentorship. We believe that our interventions will create a lasting ripple effect, fostering self-awareness, resilience, leadership, and more responsible life choices.

Who is a sHERO?

To us, a sHERO is a woman of excellence who strives to Do More, Be More, and Be Different. She defines success on her own terms while empowering others to discover meaningful pathways toward achieving their dreams.

A sHERO is driven by purpose and committed to creating impact beyond herself. She willingly shares her experiences, skills, and knowledge to support other girls and women through their personal and professional journeys. She champions equal opportunities, advocates for the empowerment of the girl child, and promotes inclusion and equity without diminishing or discriminating against the opposite gender.

At Wilsen Initiative, we believe that when one girl is empowered, an entire community is transformed.
