It takes more than simply a stable financial foundation for a grassroots football team to succeed and endure for over ten years.
Money is important, but it's not the sole factor that matters most when it comes to sustainability. The team may disintegrate or struggle to continue pursuing its vision if they make money as the core or sole thing that binds the team together.
Many outstanding teams have collapsed in my experience, all because of winnings from competitions or money received as part of sponsorship agreements.
Let me clarify: I am aware that a team needs resources and financial assistance in order to thrive, but if these things are not managed effectively, they could really work against the team.
In addition to whatever financial awards they may earn, each team needs to add this additional component.
1. Team structure :- Governance, leadership, responsibility, accountability, financial accounting etc.
2. Team culture :- The philosophy, the brand, the value, aspirations, documentation etc).
3. Sustainability plan :- Fundraising, investment, friends-raising, players transition, management transition etc.
4. The mission and vision
5. Partnership and communication strategy.
6. Players and official welfare.
Point Of View
" Building strong pillars of sustainability, systems, structure, culture, responsibility, system of rewards, and accountability can help you succeed at every stage of your journey, money or no money. This can be done even in the absence of a secure financial foundation." - Wilson Masaka, Youth Advocate and Social Entrepreneur

Football 'Made Me' I'm inspired to Do More... and in 2024 I hope to work with more local football teams to help them raise resources, create long-term organizational structures, and increase brand awareness. Meeting with the football teams from Cusson PZ and Mathare North Youth was an incredible honor.
Football is My Lifestyle, ICT is My Career and Empowering Young People is My Calling.
