Makongo Computer College Mentorship - Pep Talk

I'm on a mission to learn from, engage with, and impart knowledge and experience, particularly to young people from underserved communities, in order to develop a new paradigm that will empower them to become lifelong learners.

On the afternoon of May 9, 2023, I had the pleasure of imparting some learning strategies to young people who had just completed their O-levels the previous year and are currently enrolled in computer courses at Makongo.

The day's main focus was communication and personal branding, which would help them overcome obstacles after completing their O'level studies and prepare them for the next stage of their lives, which may be in a college, university, or the workforce.

Last but not least, I want to applaud Makongo Computer College for the fantastic work they are doing to empower youngsters, especially those who are not in school.

Targeted Programming - The Youth Bulge or Bubble

Based on my more than 18 years of experience working with youth, I have come to the conclusion that it is important to purposefully create various programs for young people in order to fill societal gaps or needs.

Here is a list of some young people's tribes as examples;

1. Youth in school
2. Youth out of school
3. Youth in employment
4. Youth in Sports
5. Youth in the creative sector
6. Youth in / out of crime.
7. Youth in government
8. Youth in private sector.
9. Youth in politics

And so on.
