Resource Mobilization October–December 2022, Play Safe With Dignity.

Every year, I request for assistance for support to host a series of events especially during the school holidays and the festive season.

Key among the series of events are;

  1. The ongoing play safe Campaign where I envision to connect every child playing football in Mathare North with a pair of shoes with an aim of boosting their self esteem and encourage safe play.
  2. The Skill Up Master Sessions which are meant to train the children and youth both the creative and soft skills that would help them cope in different life transitions.
  3. Organize the annual Mathare North Festive Season Football Tournament (MNFSFT) which give the upcoming talent a platform to showcase the skills while also fostering great values like teamwork, fair play, leadership just to mention but a few.
Main Objective: The tournament keeps the children and youth engaged so that may not indulge in unwarranted activities. Even though we aspire to do more, all our activities are determined by the availability of resources and support received.

I take this opportunity to thank my family and friends for their support they have accorded me for the many years to ensure that we achieve what we have planned under the Wilsen Initiative (Wi).

Below is a highlight of our success in 2022 call for support between October - December 2022
  1.  Organised one friendly match in Mbotela for U15 team (Mathare North Rangers F.C)
  2.  Organised the annual Mathare North Festive Season Football Tournament MNFSFT for U15.
  3.  Connect 35+ kids with football shoes. under the Play Safe With Dignity. Campaign.
  4.  Donated 10 footballs.
  5. Awarded the winner of the Mathare North Festive Season Football Tournament MNFSFT with branded Wilsen initiative football jerseys.
  6. teams participated in the annual Mathare North Festive Season Football Tournament making an approximates total of 200 players engaged.

All this wouldn't be possible by myself alone but I say a big thank you to my family and friends for their continue support.

"It takes more than courage to chase your dream, especially when you feel the dream is too big to achieve. I would say if the dream is too big then break it down into manageable portions that your convert into some tangible ideas." Wilson Masaka Youth Advocate and Social Entrepreneur.

The major goal is to make sure that kids and young people enjoy themselves while playing in secure conditions with the appropriate equipment, which also helps to increase their self-esteem. We host a tournament for U10-U15 teams as a part of our year-end celebration, and the winning teams receive branded Wilsen initiative (Wi) football jerseys and other prizes.

Even though all activities depend on the availability of supplies and assistance, I'm always committed to making sure that this evening occurs each year. Every year, we send out two to three calls to action, with December serving as the finale.

Although the December call officially ended on December 31, 2022, anyone who would like to donate to our cause may do so at any time during the year.

"I want to make them feel special and like stars. This is what I refer to as the Wi-effect or experience." - Wilson Masaka, Youth Advocate and Social Entrepreneur.

Red Eagles F.C were the champion of the 2022 Mathare North Festive Season Football Tournament (MNFSFT), which featured the junior teams in Mathare North. They defeated Mathare Cranes F.C. by a solitary goal 1-0 in the final match that was played yesterday (31.12.22) at Drive-inn primary school.

We appreciate everyone who contributed to the success of the tournament in different ways. Our next lineup of activities is the tournament with the U11 is something we are eager to host. One of the main aims of the Wilsen Initiative (Wi) is to impart the positive values that athletics can foster both on and off the field. Do More, Be More, and Be Different are three statements that summarize the objective.
